our angels and the projects they funded

This project, funded by our Australian donor, JSHEALTH, has now been running for 2 years.  The Angel Network Western Cape, in conjunction with MercyAid, have set up the kitchen at a school in Salt River, a community in dire need.  

This soup kitchen has become a hub for the children to be fed, feel safe and learn to grow their own sustenance in a vegetable garden attached to the kitchen.

The hub, where the kitchen is running, will have a library.  It will also be open during holidays offering a safe space for kids.  The hub offers trauma counselling as so many of the children have suffered severe trauma.  

The photos show the children celebrating when the vegetable gardens were planted. The children are learning to plant, care for and harvest vegetables.  Some of the vegetables are provided to the school kitchen.  The rest are sold to the community.

Mama Nomute has been running an Orphamage in Lanag, Cape Town for many years. When the members of the Angel Network Western Cape were introduced to this orphanage, through Hannah & Ben's Kitchen, they were horrified to see the conditions that Mama Nomute and her 30 wards were living in.

With the help of a couple of very generous Australian based donors we have managed to fund the purchase of a toilet, beds and mattresses, a fridge, microwave, washing machine, gas heaters and other basic living supplies.
